Banned Book Week 2012 ~ September 30th through October 6th ~  marks 30 years of celebrating FREEDOM TO READ. This freedom allows us to choose what we read from a full array of possibilities and is based on the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of the press.

Books for schools and school libraries are challenged more often than public libraries, but sometimes, even public libraries have been asked to remove titles because of themes or language.

Come into a Santa Clara County District library and find out if your favorite series, such as Harry Potter, has been challenged. A children's librarian will be happy to help you!
