Skip the book, watch the movie?

Over the years it's been a common practice to adapt popular books into films, and in most cases, the movies fail to live up to their literary counterparts. But then again, sometimes they surpass it!

While these are obviously subjective opinions, many would agree that the following movie adaptations were better than their book counterparts. That is not to say the books are necessarily bad (some are quite good in their own right), but the movies just add a little something extra.

Whether it's the acting, the musical scores, cinematography, and/or screenplay edits, here is my list of movies that are better than the books:
