Johnny Appleseed Visits the Library

We had a special visitor at the library last week: Johnny Appleseed! Johnny told us all about growing up in a log cabin with 11 brothers and sisters. The kids asked plenty of questions and found out his favorite kind of apple is called the "Rambo". He also played some games with us before leaving to plant more trees. We had an awesome time dicussing The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate, eating grasshopper cookies -- mint, not real grasshoppers! -- and talking to Lynn from the Youth Science Institute about entomology. Calpurnia is very interested in natural science and Darwin so we talked about Calpurnia's evolution as a character. Then Lynn gave a talk and let us gently pet a walking stick and a Madagascar . . .
