Read for the Record 2013

Otis Otis

On Thursday, October 3rd, kids and adults around the country will all read the picture book  Otis by Loren Long.  This fun movement to get kids reading was started in 2006 by the Jumpstart, a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. The goal is to get everyone reading of course! In 2012, 2.3 million people participated in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record.

Otis is a wonderful story of a friendship between a lovable tractor and a calf living together on a farm. When Otis is replaced by a new tractor, it takes a true friend to see the meaning of perseverance and worth.

Libraries, schools, book stores and more are making time to read this timeless story.  Join in and read for the record this week!
