I am NOT suggesting that you read a great novel AND cook at the same moment, though I have been known to stir a pot while finishing the last chapter or listening to a book on CD while making berry jam. But being an avid reader, I love making some of the great food inspired by greater stories. There are numerous cookbooks inspired by children’s literature. One of my favorites is The Winnie the Pooh Cookbook which features luscious honey sauces and picnic fare.
The Classic Nancy Drew Cookbook has recipes named after all the series highlights like Fire Dragon Spiced Fruit and Forgotten City Corn Pudding along with a few small mysteries to solve as a book bonus.
These are only a few of the fun cook books at the Library. These unique books have character favorites, party ideas and simple recipes – all good for kid friendly experiences and family fun while also providing for some yummy treats! So, go ahead, read and then cook up some of your favorites.
