Sunscreen season is coming!

While we should really use sunscreen throughout the year, summer is when we need it the most. The sun’s rays are more direct, and we are more likely to be spending time outside.

 

 

Here are some tips for summer sun protection:
 

  1.  Look for a sunscreen with at least 5% zinc oxide for the best protection. 
     

  2. Apply early and often.  That means putting it on 10 minutes before exposure and every 2 hours that you are outdoors.

  3. Coat yourself!  It takes about 9 teaspoons to properly cover up head to toe.

  4. Use a spray or stick for scalp, hair part and ears – areas that are often neglected.

  5. If you use spray, apply it inside so it won’t blow away.  Spray until surface is glossy and then rub it in.
