Ann Patchett and the World of Books

Ann PatchettThe Women's National Book Association has announced Ann Patchett as the winner of the 2012-2013 WNBA Award. WNBA exists to promote reading and to support the role of women in the community of the book. The award is presented by WNBA to a living American woman who has done meritorious work in the world of books. When Nashville, Tennessee was left without a bookstore, Patchett opened Parnassus Books, and works to bring attention to the state of national independent bookstores. Patchett is the critically acclaimed author of numerous books and articles, including Bel Canto and Run. In her book, State of Wonder, Ann Patchett remarked, “Never be so focused on what you're looking for that you overlook the thing you actually find.”
