Mr. Penumbra's 24-hour Bookstore
This month, the Cupertino Library Adult Book Discussion Group will read Silicon Valley Reads 2014 selected novel, Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore, by Robin Sloan. Clay Jannon, a recently laid off computer whiz, needs a job, so he becomes the night time clerk at Mr Penumbra’s book store.  Soon Clay realizes that it’s no ordinary book store, in terms of both the store’s limited stock, and its small clientele who regularly return, but never seem to buy anything. Intrigued by the mystery, Clay enlists his friends to help him discover the secret.
The Adult Book Discussion Group meets on the third Thursday evening of each month in the Library Story Room. Adults of all ages are welcome to attend. All meetings are kindly sponsored by the Friends of the Cupertino Library.
In February, the Book Discussion Group will read Nicholas Carr’s The Shallows: What the Internet is Doing to Our Brains, the 2014 Non-fiction Silicon Valley Reads Title.
