Thanksgiving is just a few days away, and for those who are worried about eating healthy, avoiding some of the more indulgent dishes at the table can be tough. If you're interested in finding out more about what you put on your Thanksgiving plate, check out some of the Santa Clara County Library District's online resources that you can access for free with your library card!
An article published by the Harvard Heart Letter explains how Thanksgiving dinner can actually be healthy for the heart when the right foods are eaten. The caloric content, protein, fat of different Thanksgiving meats are included, along with tips on how to ensure that you have a healthy and delicious plate of food to enjoy!
Another article published by USA Today Magazine provides some simple tips if you're cooking the Thanksgiving feast this year. Instead of using loads of bread or sausage to stuff your turkey, try fruits like apples or apricots. Try using vegetable stock as the base for your gravy instead of the fat-laden pan drippings from the turkey. Check this article out for more tips like this!
