Looking for reviews and recommendations on local goods and services, such as plumbers, doctors, health clubs, auto mechanics, or drycleaners, but can’t afford "her" list?
You can get this information for free at your local Santa Clara County Library District Community Library. We have a wonderful database called "Bay Area Consumers' Checkbook." This online database is available for in-library use on our catalog computers or full-service public computers. It is thoroughly researched and compiled by a local non-profit, independent consumer organization which accepts no advertising. The information is unbiased and is based on subscriber surveys. You can read in-depth articles and get advice and tips on selecting quality service providers, get ratings on price, customer service, timeliness, etc. You are able to limit your search by county, zip code, ratings, specific firms, etc.
If you prefer, we also have a subscription to the hardcopy version available for reference use at all our libraries.
