Santa Clara County Executive Dr. Jeffrey Smith has announced the appointment of Nancy Howe as the new County Librarian for the Santa Clara County Library District.   Nancy has served as Acting County Librarian since April 2012 and before that as the Deputy County Librarian for Information Technology and Collection since 2008.  Through Nancy’s leadership, the Santa Clara County Library District is regarded as a national forerunner in the use of innovative library technology while continuing its reputation for having a stellar library collection.

"Nancy has an unwavering commitment to service excellence and passion for the transformative role of the public library in our community," said Dr. Smith.

Prior to joining the Library, Nancy was the Director of Planning, Fund Distribution, and Community Services for United Way of Silicon Valley.  She is also an active community volunteer.

Nancy received both her B.A. and her Masters in Library and Information Science from UCLA.  In 2011, she completed a leadership program at Harvard University and recently completed the Santa County County’s Center for Leadership Transformation (CLT) at Stanford University.
