I've never downloaded eContent before. Where do I begin?

We offer the following eContent for you to download to your computer or mobile device:

To get started, select one of the services listed below, and install the appropriate software for your computer or mobile device before downloading a title. Need more help? Contact us.

OverDrive:

  • Install the OverDrive Media Console for your tablet or mobile device.
  • Install Adobe Digital Editions if you want to read eBooks on your Windows PC or Mac and/or transfer to your NOOK Simple Touch, Kobo, and Sony Reader (first generation).
  • Register the installed software with an Adobe ID (except for the OverDrive Media Console for PC or Mac).
  • If you own a Kindle there's no software installation required. Kindle users must register for an Amazon account
  • Download the book, music, or video you want to borrow. You'll need your library card and PIN.

Axis 360:

  • In order to download eBooks in the Blio format you'll need the Blio Reading App for your device.
  • Install Adobe Digital Editions on your Windows PC or Mac if you want to read EPUB/PDF eBooks on your NOOK, Kobo, and Sony Reader.  Register Adobe Digital Editions with an Adobe ID. PDF and EPUB titles will need to be transferred via USB cable to these eReaders.
  • Kindle Fire users, please follow these special instructions - Kindle Fire & Kindle Fire HD.
  • You will need to create a free account the first time you try downloading a title.

OneClick Digital:

Freegal: Freegal offers the Freegal Mobile App for iPhone and Android. However, if you want to store your files in iTunes Library, please download the MP3 files to your computer by vising Freegal using your browser and then transfer using a USB cable via iTunes.

What devices are supported?

For OverDrive, please visit the Device Resource Center for a list of devices.

For Axis 360, please visit the Blio Reading App site to view what devices support the Blio format. The Amazon Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD are also supported. The other format available is Adobe EPUB and PDF. eReader devices such as NOOK, Sony Reader and Kobo support EPUB and PDF. The Adobe Digital Editions software must be installed in order to download and transfer EPUB and PDF titles.

When I'm downloading eBooks and Audiobooks in OverDrive, how do I know what format to choose?

The available OverDrive formats for eBooks, and Audiobooks, Music and Videos, are listed in this format chart. Look for the device you’ll be using to listen to or read the title, and then choose the appropriate format.

If a title isn’t offered in a particular format, that’s because the publisher hasn’t made it available in that format.

Why do I have to choose a lending period?

Most downloadable items can be used by only a certain number of people at one time. As a courtesy to others, choose a lending period that allows you the time to enjoy the item, but doesn’t prevent others from borrowing it too.
